What to Expect following your treatment, it is normal to experience:
- A healthy, radiant glow
- Mild redness that typically resolves within a few hours
- Slight skin sensitivity or tightness
- Increased product absorption
- Smoother makeup application
Most clients experience little to no downtime and can return to normal activities immediately.
First 24 Hours
To allow your skin to recover:
- Avoid touching your face unnecessarily.
- Keep your skin clean and well moisturized.
- Avoid excessive heat and sweating.
- Skip strenuous exercise if possible.
- Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, steam rooms, and saunas.
- Do not apply exfoliating products.
- Avoid direct sun exposure.
Sun Protection
Your freshly exfoliated skin is more sensitive to UV exposure.
Every day:
- Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50+ sunscreen.
- Reapply every 2 hours if outdoors.
- Wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses whenever possible.
- Avoid tanning beds and intentional sun exposure.
Daily sun protection helps preserve your results and minimizes the risk of pigmentation changes.
For the Next 3–5 Days
Avoid products that may irritate the skin, including:
- Retinol or Retin-A® (tretinoin)
- Glycolic acid
- Salicylic acid
- Lactic acid
- Mandelic acid
- Benzoyl peroxide
- Prescription exfoliating medications
- Physical exfoliating scrubs
- Cleansing brushes
Your provider will advise you when it is appropriate to resume your regular skincare routine.
Hydrate & Nourish
Keep your skin hydrated by using:
- A gentle cleanser
- A fragrance-free moisturizer
- Hyaluronic acid serum (if recommended by your provider)
- A soothing barrier-repair cream if needed
Well-hydrated skin heals beautifully and maintains its healthy glow.
Makeup
*If your skin feels comfortable, makeup may usually be applied later the same day.
*For the best results, many clients choose to allow their skin to breathe for 24 hours.
*Always use clean makeup brushes and applicators.
Avoid Additional Facial Treatments Until
Recommended
Wait 5-7 day before:
- Waxing
- Chemical peels
- Microneedling
- Laser treatments
- Other exfoliating facial procedures
Your Results
Following dermaplaning, you may notice:
- Instantly smoother skin
- Brighter, more radiant complexion
- Improved product absorption
- Flawless makeup application
- Softer skin texture
*Results typically last 3–4 weeks, depending on your skin's natural cell turnover.
*Regular treatments every 4–6 weeks help maintain consistently smooth, healthy-looking skin.
If your dermaplaning treatment included a chemical peel:
Your skin may remain more sensitive than with dermaplaning alone. Follow all aftercare instructions carefully, avoid active skincare ingredients for 5–7 days (or as directed by your provider), and wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50+ daily. Mild flaking or dryness may occur and is a normal part of the renewal process.
*Do not pick or peel the skin
