Dermaplaning Contraindications

Dermaplaning may not be suitable for individuals experiencing the following conditions:

• Active acne, particularly inflamed or cystic breakouts
• Open lesions, cuts, or compromised skin barrier
• Active skin infections (bacterial, viral, or fungal), including herpes simplex (cold sores)
• Severe rosacea or inflamed, highly reactive skin
• Recent sunburn or excessive sun exposure
• Use of isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 6 months (provider discretion required)
• Recent chemical peels, laser treatments, or aggressive exfoliation (skin must be fully healed)
• History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring (relative contraindication)
• Skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis in the treatment area
• Suspicious or raised lesions that have not been medically evaluated
