During this time, we’ll address any concerns you may have and determine whether Lumecca IPL is the right treatment for you. Your provider will also evaluate your skin type and recommend the number of treatments you may need to achieve optimal results.

While numbing is usually not necessary, a cooling gel will be applied to the treatment area to ensure your comfort. Protective eye shields will be placed to shield your eyes from the bright light used during the treatment. A mild cleaning of the skin may be done to remove any makeup, dirt, or oils, ensuring a clean surface for the procedure.

The Lumecca IPL device will be gently passed over the treatment area. You may experience a mild snapping sensation or a warm feeling, similar to a rubber band lightly snapping against your skin. The procedure typically takes between 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the area being treated, and most patients find the treatment tolerable.

After the treatment, mild redness and warmth in the treated area are common and usually subside within a few hours. Pigmented spots may initially darken and will gradually flake off over the next 7 to 10 days. It’s important to apply a gentle moisturizer and sunscreen to the treated area daily. We recommend avoiding direct sun exposure to protect your skin and enhance your results.

There is minimal downtime, and you can resume your regular activities immediately after the treatment. Many patients notice immediate improvements in their skin’s texture and tone, with full results becoming visible within 2 to 3 weeks as your skin continues to regenerate. For deeper pigmentation concerns, multiple sessions may be necessary, typically spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

A follow-up appointment is recommended after your first treatment to evaluate progress and determine if additional sessions are required. For optimal results, we typically recommend 2 to 3 sessions, but results can vary depending on your skin type and concerns. During follow-up visits, your provider will assess your progress and may make adjustments to your treatment plan if necessary.
